The technology is changing the world at a rapid rate. We are always connected, whether through our smartphones or robots. Communication is no longer done face-to–face or even with handwriting, but rather through voice assistants, text messages and video calls.

New technology has changed our lives in a variety of ways, and has improved the quality of life from generation to generation. However, it’s not without dangers, particularly when it is related to jobs. Many people are worried that new technologies will replace human jobs, and this could occur to a certain extent. However, we know from the past that the loss of certain jobs is offset by creation of new, better jobs.

We are already experiencing this happening in the workplace due to advancements in artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and robotics. We are also witnessing the impact of drones and 5G networks.

These technologies will revolutionize the business process by bringing in higher levels of automation, connectivity and security. Blockchains, for instance are transforming the supply chain by making it more secure and providing an indelible history of transactions. 5G will allow companies to process data more closely to where it came from (ultra-low latency) as well as achieve data sovereignty, and increase data privacy by reducing transmission costs.

Furthermore, augmented and virtual reality are changing the way we interact with digital devices and information, and creating immersive experiences that look and feel like real life. We’re also seeing significant advances in areas like gene editing, which could reduce the incidence of genetic disorders that stem from hereditary diseases such as cystic fibrosis and muscular dystrophy and could even increase our lifespans.
